However, Schreiner also acknowledged the challenges, particularly the limited availability of docking spaces, which can take years to secure.

Steve Spivak, vice president of global sales and reservations at Tauck, highlighted the need for responsible tourism practices. Michelle Palma, North America executive vice president for Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, highlighted the unique appeal of river cruises. She described them as journeys through the “arteries of the country,” offering an intimate exploration of destinations.

Paul Brady, news director at Travel + Leisure, shared his personal experience of discovering the value of river cruising. He likened it to staying in a luxurious hotel in the heart of a European city, with the convenience of stepping off the ship to explore. Brady emphasized the need for the industry to better communicate these unique experiences to potential travelers.
